In the context of the Christian view of fellowship, the Family & Community Life Commission's responsibility is to nurture, support, and strengthen the family and build community by involving everyone as a life-giving member of St. George.

Volunteers are needed to offer babysitting services to parents attending various seminars, sacramental preparation meetings, mission days, and liturgical experiences. Volunteers will be asked to commit to scheduled activities and will work under the direction of the babysitting coordinator. Adult and teen volunteers are needed for babysitting.

Called To Be A Mom (CTBAM)

A ministry of St. George providing spiritual growth and fellowship for mothers of St. George Parish. Our activities include monthly meetings for moms, monthly play dates, family-oriented socials and service opportunities.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troops

This national organization promotes integrity, responsibility, and patriotism in boys. St. George Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts participate in Catholic scouting activities.

Girl Scouts

This national organization promotes integrity, responsibility and patriotism in girls. St. George Girl Scouts participate in Catholic scouting activities.

Golden Oaks

Golden Oaks is open to all individuals over the age of 55 and other interested persons. It is a non-profit, serving as a volunteer ministry affiliated with St. George parish. Guided by the Holy Spirit we strive to provide a continuing life learning experience by providing monthly meeting that offer programs of interest. Our purpose is to unite those persons who are interested in improving their quality of social and spiritual life, to nurture, support and strengthen them; and to build community by involving everyone as a life-giving participant. During the year the monthly activities include speakers from the Baton Rouge area, occasional meals and field trips.

High School Youth Ministry

This ministry is open to all teens in grades 9-12. The youth ministry provides activities for teensyear-round. GTown youth ministry meets at night at the youth house for fellowship and dinner. Teens are offered opportunities for retreats, service projects, and fellowship. There are opportunities to participate in the Diocesan Youth Conference, Abbey Youth Festival and lots more. Adult leaders are involved in yearlong faith sharing, planning and participation in activities.

Jr. High Youth Ministry

This ministry is open to all junior high students in grades 6th-8th. The youth group provides activities for students once a month. Activities include growing in our faith, opportunities to meet other junior high-aged students both in the parish and the diocese, and guaranteed fun. Adult leaders are involved in yearlong faith sharing, planning, and participation in activities.

Marriage Enrichment

This ministry explores marriage educational and spiritual formation opportunities for our parish. The members plan events geared toward married couples seeking to enhance their marriages, manage resources for presentation on our website including marriage enrichment resources and counseling resources and schedule as well as implement the programs by recruiting, promoting and facilitating.

Parish Picnic 

Persons are needed to help organize and host the annual parish picnic on the grounds of the parish each spring. This will include preparation, serving, games and cleanup.

Sunday Nursery

The St. George Sunday Nursery offers child care for small children ages one to two so their parents can attend 9:30 a.m. Mass without distraction. Children ages 3-5 are placed in the Pre-School of Religion. The Sunday Nursery is staffed by parents and adult and teen volunteers on a rotating basis.

This scouting group is open to boys and girls ages 14 to 21 interested in outdoor adventure, career opportunities, service and fun.
