Youth Ministries

Welcome to Youth Ministries at St. George!

Learn about who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved. Check out our pages for Middle School and High School Youth Groups for information about how to join & full schedules!

Our Mission:

“Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1 Tim 4:12)
“The future is in your hearts and in your hands. God is entrusting to you the task, at once difficult and uplifting, of working with Him in the building of the civilization of love.” – Pope St. JP II

We see the future in the hands of every person we encounter and desire to give them a means to draw closer to God and to building a civilization of love through the sharing of time, talent, faith, and fellowship.

Our Goals:

  • To empower the youth (6-12th graders) to choose a deeper understanding of faith and a stronger relationship with Christ
  • To establish a community where the youth of the parish feel safe, accepted, and able to be themselves.
  • To support the youth of this parish throughout the year by means of mentoring, study opportunities, providing a way for them to question their faith, and to assist them in building strong bonds with their parish family.

Our Youth Groups are going virtual!  Starting this week, our ministries are moving to a completely virtual format. We use the platforms of Discord (for the students) and GroupMe (for the parents) to stay connected, up to date, and active in our faith community despite all the limitations that have been placed on physical meetings.

What does this mean? It means that we won't be meeting in person until further notice. Instead we will use virtual platforms that are free, simple to sign up for, and easy to navigate, to host all our youth group functions. There are two of them, as mentioned, that we will use - read more below!

Parents, your permission and your ability to stay informed are of highest importance to me. Fill out the linked form below to tell me if your child has permission to interact with our High School Youth Group on Discord or not, and when our Middle School group is up and running I'll have a permission form for that as well.

GroupMe will be how I stay in contact with the parents of youth group participants, updates, announcements, etc., will be sent out through GroupMe and through email.
What is Group Me? GroupMe is an application (available as an app or you can access it from your web browser onyour computer) for communication with large groups of people. Download it onto your phone
or access it from the web by searching for GroupMe, it’s free and easy to use.

How do I join the Youth Group GroupMe? It’s simple as clicking one of the links below.

Our servers on Discord will allow for us to talk to each other via voice calls or messaging, play games, pray together, participate in live presentations & the Q&A sessions that have  become so loved, and most importantly provide us the means to build up our community and increase our closeness to God.
servers are moderated by Child Protection Certified adults like myself and my fellow volunteers who are excited to help us navigate this new way of ministering to the youth of the parish. This is currently for High School only, our Middle School Virtual Youth Group is still in development - thank you for your patience with this as I work to figure out the best way to minister to our 6-8th grade students.

What is Discord? “Discord is a free voice, video and text chat app for teens and adults ages 13 and up. It wascreated to bring people together through a love of gaming. Teens can access Discord via their
PC, browser, or mobile phone. Once there, they can join a chat they’ve been invited to or theycan create private servers and invite their friends to play and discuss games by voice, text or
video. They can also message each other individually or in group chats.”
- Go to “A Parent's Guide to Discord" to learn more.

How do I get Discord on my computer or phone? The app is free for iPhone and Android users; simply download it onto your phone. There are some limitations that come with solely using the mobile version; but rarely will they hinder your Virtual Youth Group experience. For your computer, go to to access the browser version and/or find download options for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

How do I join the High School Youth Group Server? Each student (or parent of student if student is less than 13 years old) should make a free Discord account either through the website or app (make sure to go through the simple process of verifying your email) and then add “StGC_YouthMinister#3207” as a friend (that’s me, Catherine).
Students: After you friend me, I will ask you to give me your full name, your parent's name, and your parent's email address so I can cross-check the data with the data from my Google Form. If I do not have verified permission from your parents, I'll email them and ask before I send you an invite to the server.
If anyone other than StGC_YouthMinister#3207 asks you for this information on Discord, don't give it to them.
Parents: Parents you are welcome to make an account and ask to join our servers. I'll ask for your name, email, and your child's name so I can keep our server secure. Once verified I’ll invite you to the server you requested and you’ll be able to see, read, and listen in any of our channels. I'm happy to have you on there.
